Skin resurfacing with Icon™ Cynosure® laser technology at Aurora Bella Plastic Surgery is a nonsurgical aesthetic procedure that uses pulsating beams of light to eliminate damaged surface skin layer by layer. The treatment is great for correcting facial lines and wrinkles and for diminishing skin irregularities, including acne scars, pigmentation, and other flaws. Also called a laser peel, laser skin resurfacing is considered a great treatment for people who want softer, clearer, youthful-looking skin. Depending on the needs of the patient's skin type, the laser can be adjusted for the best results. There is some recovery time required for most laser skin resurfacing procedures. Any concerns or questions may be reviewed during your consultation with Miami, FL plastic surgeon Dr. Bella A. Pacheco.

In today's world where convenience and efficiency are more important than ever, laser skin resurfacing stands out as a high versatile treatment that offers the opportunity to address multiple skin concerns at once with minimal downtime and long-lasting results. Some of the most exciting benefits of choosing laser skin resurfacing at Aurora Bella Plastic Surgery include:

  • May slow the skin aging process
  • Can reduce the size of enlarged pores
  • Helps to correct sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone
  • Smooths out rough or patchy skin texture
  • Removes damaged skin cells
  • Minimal discomfort
  • Quick, convenient treatment
  • Minimal downtime

There are many factors to consider when selecting which method of laser skin resurfacing treatment is best for you. Laser skin resurfacing is designed for people who are unsatisfied with their skin's appearance. If you see sun-damaged skin, acne scars, age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, or redness issues, this procedure can help address these cosmetic flaws. Also, laser skin resurfacing works effectively if you have scaly patches, rough texture, or other irregularities. Laser skin resurfacing is not suggested if you have very dark skin or active acne. Additionally, it's important to be aware that a recovery period is needed after laser treatments. Certain patients, based on the condition of their skin, may need up to 2 – 3 weeks to recover.

When you are scheduled for a deeper or more intense Icon Cynosure laser resurfacing treatment, you may be asked to use a topical retinoid for 2 – 3 weeks before your laser appointment. This helps prepare the skin for better results. Medication will be suggested before the treatment to help lessen discomfort so you can relax throughout your appointment. If your complexion needs mild improvement, local anesthesia will be applied to numb certain areas where the laser will target. A type of sedation may be used for the full face or deeper laser treatments. During the procedure, you can relax in our special treatment chair while the Icon Cynosure laser handpiece passes over the skin, precisely targeting the needed areas for resurfacing. You may feel heat from the laser, followed by cold air from the system's built-in cooling device. The laser energy removes dead and damaged skin cells while stimulating natural collagen production.

Dr. Pacheco is Great. - I had breast augmentation done by Dr. Pacheco 3/24 and I honestly can't say enough good things about her and her work. She did amazing and her professionalism and bed side manner made me feel at total ease. It was a little anxiety inducing and nerve wracking to not see my surgeon until right before surgery, but Dr. Pacheco was great about taking enough time to answer all my questions and concerns and she gave me exactly what I wanted. I'm tall but slim and smaller framed so I was concerned with getting too large of implants for my body type and had a few consults with other surgeons and ultimately I made the decision to go to PPS mostly.based on the price and reviews for their surgeons, Dr. Pacheco gave me confidence I made a good decision. She spent plenty of time explaining post op instructions and making sure I understood them to get the best results. So Professional Plastic Surgeons, yes this place is run a little different but it's also a budget option so take that into consideration, however the work their surgeons do is great. I thought the staff were great, both front office and surgical but in all honesty this place is run to see as many patients as they can, yes you don't see your surgeon until the day of your surgery, yes it's up to you to make sure you have certain things done before surgery (blood work, mammogram, etc), yes you'll probably have to wait several hours to have your surgery, yes there's not much recovery once youre awake they basically get you out asap. For me these were acceptable since I knew I was getting a very good price and was confident with my surgeon. Post op I didn't see my surgeon, I was seen by an RN the next day to make sure everything looked ok and the clinic messaged me daily asking how I was doing for the first week and then several times a week after that for several weeks and to also send in photos of my recovery. I flew in from out of state snd stayed 5 days to recover before flying back home. I'm quite pleased with my results and do recommend them to prospective patients that are looking for an affordable option, if you're ok with the before mentioned. I plan on using them again for future work.

Dr. Pacheco deserves more than five stars! I got a lift and implant exchange and my boobs look AMAZING! It’s been 2 months since I got them done and I am beyond happy with the results!! I had a bunch of consultations and Dr. Pacheco took the time to explain everything in detail. On surgery day she explained everything again, (how my scars will look, what to expect, how to take care, and etc.) Again my boobs look absolutely perfect! I highly recommend her!!! Thanks Dr. Pacheco, you’re the BEST!!

After lighter resurfacing treatments, a healing ointment will be smoothed over the treated skin and you can go home to recover. The skin may look red, and there may be some swelling and irritation. These symptoms subside within a couple of days, and the skin peeling process will last over a 3 – 5-day period. Your recovery period will last longer for those undergoing a deeper resurfacing treatment. The treatment sections may be protected with dressings, and the burning, irritation, and swelling side effects may be more intense. Medication can be prescribed to help reduce these symptoms. The recovery time associated with a more intense laser skin resurfacing procedure may last several weeks. Every patient needs to minimize their UV exposure after their laser appointment and apply sun protection regularly. For all laser treatments, the treated skin will naturally flake, crust, and peel off. It's vital to avoid interfering with the recovery process to prevent scarring and to shield your face from UV exposure. After the peeling process, the treated skin should feel softer while appearing younger, clearer, and rejuvenated.

Aurora Bella Plastic Surgery laser skin resurfacing treatments offer amazing outcomes if you want a more youthful appearance. If you are curious about a laser peel and want to hear more about them, as well as additional nonsurgical procedures at our Miami, FL office, we invite you to contact us today to schedule your appointment with Dr. Pacheco.

About Us
How much does laser skin resurfacing cost?

Your laser skin resurfacing cost will depend on the treatment type you get. In your consultation, Dr. Pacheco will listen to your skin problems and goals before reviewing the different types of laser resurfacing available treatments. After this, she can help you choose your treatment and discuss costs. Aurora Bella Plastic Surgery often runs treatment specials and packages, so ask for more information during your consultation.

What's the best type of resurfacing for me?

Dr. Pacheco can help you choose which resurfacing option fits your concerns and goals in your initial consultation. The best treatment for you will depend on the health of your skin, any skin issues, and the skin depth you want your treatment to reach. How long you are willing to give your recovery might also be an important consideration when you create a treatment plan. When unsure, it is better to select a milder treatment to see how you like your results and decide if you want something stronger for your second appointment.

How can I help my skin recover after a resurfacing treatment?

Dr. Pacheco or a member of her staff will give you recommendations on how you can speed skin healing following your laser treatment. The number one rule is don't pick or peel flaking skin. This can cause long-term damage including scars. You need to skip all hair removal methods on the treated skin, which include waxing, shaving, or depilatory creams. We can recommend an ointment to help soothe treated areas.
